A quote tells you a price. These five questions tell you how the job will actually run.
1. Who will be on site?
Some firms quote a job and then subcontract the whole thing. You want to know whose crew turns up on Monday, and whether the person who quoted will be back.
2. What does the quote exclude?
A cheap price usually means fewer things sit inside it. Read the exclusions before you read the total.
3. How are variations priced?
Something always changes. Agree in writing how changes get costed, and agree it before work starts rather than in week eight with the floor up.
4. Can I see a job you finished two years ago?
Anyone can show you fresh paint. A job that still looks right after two winters tells you about the work underneath it.
5. Who do I call when something goes wrong?
Not if. On every project something needs sorting, and the difference between a good builder and a bad one is entirely in what happens next.
